Our son is “crazy about the Lion King”. Those are his words. Before he’d ever seen the movie, we’d read the book to him over and over again. So much so that he could be heard reciting the story to himself as he walked around the house. He LOVES that story. Once he saw the movie, it was a whole other level of madness. He will tell anyone who will listen how much he loves Mufasa and that “Scar, he’s not nice.”
Kids at his school have apparently been talking up Disneyland. Being that it’s just down the road from Los Angeles, many of them had already been. It’s been on our list of things to do with him but we haven’t gotten around to it. We wanted to make sure he was old enough to enjoy it and then we had baby girl. We want to wait until she’s a little bigger now.
Well, I’m pretty sure he doesn’t care about any of these “reasons”. He’s made it clear that he wants to go to the “Ditney Castle”. He’s convinced he’d see Rafiki and all his Lion King friends. Every time we leave the house he asks, “Are we going to the Ditney Castle.” It’s to the point that it’s breaking my heart to say no. He REALLY wants to go.
So, since we’re waiting for baby girl to get bigger and it’s cold and dark so early now, we figured the next best thing would be Downtown Disney. It’s an outdoor shopping and eating area right next to Disneyland. It’s much smaller than the actual park so we could get in an out pretty quickly. He fell asleep on the way there. When he awoke, he saw signs with Simba on them and about lost his three year old mind!
I took a few pictures while we were there. This one is probably my favorite. He is so happy to be at the Lego store and was busy building something when I said “cheese”. The hilarious thing for me is the girl next to him. What the heck is she thinking? That look on her face is priceless.
