One of the first things I learned about after becoming a mom – mom wars. It’s the practice of believing that your way and only your way is right when it comes to motherhood.

Before actually becoming a mom, I had a million and twelve opinions about motherhood. You probably could have called me Judgy McJudgerson. I thought I knew how this parenthood thing worked. Now that I’m in this thing. I mean, knee deep, two kids in this thing, I know better. I realize, I had NO idea what it’s really like. The sad thing is, after hitting mommyhood we take all of that judgment and turn it towards other moms. It becomes this disposable vs. cloth diapers, breast vs. formula, SAHM vs WM three ring circus. I, for one, want no parts of it. I prefer my circus under a tent.

So, when I saw this “mommy manifesto” floating around the web. I was intrigued. It just lays it all out there. At the end of the day, as long as you’re doing the best you can by your kids, it’s OK. My mother always tells me, “As long as you’re doing your best, I can’t ask anything else of you. You can’t do any more than your best.” This is my mommyhood mantra.

Good moms breastfeed.
Good moms formula feed.
Good moms vaccinate their kids.
Good moms don’t vaccinate their kids.
Good moms co-sleep.
Good moms use cribs.
Good moms have hospital births.
Good moms have home births.
Good moms adopt.
Good moms have natural births.
Good moms have epidurals.
Good moms have c-sections.
Good moms have 10 kids.
Good moms have 1 kid .
Good moms use cloth diapers.
Good moms use disposable diapers.

I totally agree with this…as long as your children are healthy and thriving that’s what matters most!

I so agree with you! I have 4 kiddos and sometimes I feel like I’m not doing enough but like you, my mother has always said to just try your best, pray and everything else will fall where it may. My kids are awesome so I must be somewhat ok 🙂

It takes way too much energy to judge, don’t you think?

I just want my children to look back and feel satisfied that they’re mother did everything she could to help them have a happy fulfilling life. HOw others feel about how I get my children to this point really doesn’t matter. In my opinion the KEY is really knowing and understanding your child’s needs, likes and spirit. Once you understand these three you’ve pretty much have the mom thing sew’d up! Great job to you other mommies!

Exactly! At the end of the days if my kids are healthy and happy I’ve done my job.

I had no idea that mommy wars were so real until actually becoming a mother.
